Boston Comics featuring Paul D'Angelo, Mitch Stinson and Joni Grassey

Friday January 6, 2023
8:00pm

Who is the comedian/writer/actor that The Los Angeles Times calls “…quite likely the funniest entertainer you’ve never heard of… yet”?

Paul Murphy spent almost eleven years as an Assistant District Attorney, supervising several of Massachusetts’s busiest courthouses, before building a reputation as a noted criminal-defense trial attorney. The unexpected twist to this story is that, for nine of those years, under the pseudonym of Paul D’Angelo, Paul was simultaneously becoming one of the nation’s top standup comedians.

Combining an energetic, charismatic stage presence and spontaneous improvisational talent with an endless array of intelligent humor delivered in an animated style that grabs and holds the attention of crowds everywhere he performs, Paul’s constantly evolving and diverse selection of original material “takes normal everyday experiences and makes them sound absolutely hilarious.” Critics further write that “(Paul D’Angelo) is an energetic performer who gives a peak performance at every show.” “His quick comedic mind,” “unique observations” and “down to-earth, stop-and-think humor” “keeps the crowd in hysterics.”

Mitch Stinson is a former aircraft-carrier aviator for the United States Navy who, as a pilot, made over 200 carrier landings during his 10 year military career. Mitch has recently risen through the comedy ranks in the Northeast US by virtue of his original material that offers unique insight into the transition from hot-shot Navy pilot to everyday civilian life… resonating with comedy crowds everywhere.

Joni Grassey was a long time house comedian in Las Vegas before recently returning to New England. Grassey is not only one of the funniest women in the business and has worked with and opened for some of the biggest names in comedy.

Nationally known comedian, Lenny Clarke, with the heavy Boston accent and the Don Rickles attitude, might do just about anything. You really don't know what will come out of his mouth next. He came up in the 1980s, the heyday of Boston Comedy, with fellow funnymen Steven Wright, Martin Olson and Denis Leary. In fact he was roommates with Olsen, and their apartment, known by comedians as "The Barracks," was a notorious "crash pad" for visiting comics, and the subject of a documentary film as Clarke and Leary explain in "When Standup Stood Out."

Lenny has appeared in several television shows like Lenny, Contest Searchlight, The Job, The John Larroquette Show, It's All Relative and most recently he played the role of Uncle Teddy on Rescue Me. His film credits include Monument Men, Fever Pitch and Southie. Currently he is busy working on the television series, The Winner.

“Crazy train” is the term late-night host Jimmy Fallon used to describe Lenny when they worked together on the 2005 movie “Fever Pitch.”
