Available Positions

Arts Marketing and Engagement Coordinator

The Arts Marketing and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for increasing awareness of TCAN’s mission and arts programming including mainstage and cinema events, children’s programs, membership programs, fundraising events, and campaigns. The Marketing Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director.

The Marketing Coordinator uses defined audience segments and data tagging to improve the relevancy and focus of marketing communication and measures marketing effectiveness using reporting tools and data analytics.

The Marketing Coordinator is primarily responsible for driving ticket sales, class registrations, membership, and donations by implementing a variety of unified marketing activities. These activities include management of TCAN’s brand identity, design and production of email messages, maintenance of TCAN’s website content and e-signage, managing TCAN’s presence on social media platforms, and the design and production of printed collateral. Copywriting and graphic production skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Acquisition of New Patrons
    • Create and distribute Event Schedules of upcoming programs prepared using Adobe InDesign
    • Create and distribute event posters within the region for selected events and programs
    • Organize volunteer Street Teams assigned to build awareness in target cities and towns
    • Participate in local community events including Farmer’s Markets, Natick Days
  • Increase Social Media Engagement in Defined Communities and Target Audiences
    • Design a framework of target communities based on demographics and genre preferences
    • Increase engagement on all social media platforms to meet TCAN’s marketing and fundraising objectives (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Bandsintown)
    • Create video and graphic content for social media platforms including artist news and insights, event announcements, and relevant changes/updates
  • Email Campaign Management
    • Define audience segments based on demographics, interests, and past engagement, utilizing data analytics and audience insights
    • Implement a tagging strategy for patron records in our Salesforce-based CRM database, replicated in Constant Contact, to allow the effective distribution of targeted messages
    • Create personalized email messages using Constant Contact, tailored to specific audience segments, with customized content, subject lines, and visuals to maximize engagement
    • Monitor and analyze campaign performance to optimize future campaign effectiveness
  • Increase Awareness of Events and Programs
    • Collaborate with program directors, development staff, and external partners to develop integrated marketing strategies and campaigns
    • Maintain and update content on TCAN’s WordPress website, including event listings, program descriptions, and compelling imagery
    • Write and distribute event and program descriptions to online media outlets (patch.com, artsboston.com, wickedlocal.com) and traditional media (bostonglobe.com)
    • Create and maintain a content library of digital assets for promotional use, including images, artist biographies, program descriptions, web links, music, and video clips
    • Produce video content for promotion of programs at cinema screenings, social media posts
  • Increase Participation in Membership and Fundraising Campaigns
    • Develop printed brochures and collateral for membership and development campaigns and events, including Annual Reports, Annual Gala, solicitation letters, and membership packets
  • Manage the TCAN Brand
    • Maintain an archive of branding assets including fonts, logo, images
    • Manage the use of branding materials and writing/copy editing to unify messaging across print, email, web, social, and traditional media channels by staff and performing artists
    • Performs the Load-in / Load-out of band equipment and rental equipment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in marketing or related field required
  • 1-3 years of professional post-graduate work experience in marketing, graphic production preferred
  • A passion for the arts – music, theater, film, and arts education.
  • Experience in identifying and defining audience segments based on demographics, interests, behavior and past engagement. Experience developing and implementing tagging systems or segmentation frameworks to categorize and organize audience data effectively.
  • Expertise with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Video editing experience with Premiere Pro is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional computer skills, including a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM applications (Salesforce/PatronManager preferred), website CMS, social media, email (Constant Contact preferred)
  • Excellent business communication skills, including copywriting and public-facing customer interactions.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and self-directed with strong time management skills.
  • Candidates must be willing to work on-premises and available to work occasional nights or weekends.

Audio Engineer – Live Performances

Reporting to Program Director and Event Manager, supports live performance events at TCAN to maximize the positive experience of performers and patrons. The ability to work as part of a team is critical for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs the Load-in / Load-out of band equipment and rental equipment
  • Setup and breakdown of band/artist equipment for event
  • Cabling and patching / working together with the artist and road crew as a team
  • Audio adjustments, maintaining safe audio levels as defined by the venue
  • Oversee and support visiting audio techs, especially during shows
  • Responsible for protection, maintenance and repair of audio equipment
  • Assist with Production throughout the House as needed
  • Assist the Program Director with the technical advance with Artists representatives
  • Ensure proper care and handling of all TCAN and rental audio equipment
  • Interact with visiting production crews to ensure a successful show
  • Distribute or create venue production details and stage configuration
  • Oversee and operate systems pertaining to audio throughout the entire venue
  • Cooperate with and assist lighting crew with stands, microphones, cables, etc
  • Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise level

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in mixing audio for live music performances
  • Professional-level mastery of acoustics, audio consoles, and signal-processing hardware

Lighting Director – Live Performances

Reporting to the Program Director and Event Manager, the Lighting Director (Technician/Designer) supports live performance events at TCAN to maximize the positive experience of our patrons. The ability to work as part of a team is critical for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adjust the lighting plot as required for each individual performance
  • Focus and rigging of lighting instruments as required for performance
  • Programming of digital lighting console as required for performance
  • Executes real-time lighting adjustments to support moods as defined by artist and venue
  • Responsible for protection, maintenance and repair of lighting equipment
  • Assist with Production throughout the House as needed
  • Assist the Program Director with the technical advance with Artists representatives
  • Ensure proper care and handling of all TCAN and rental lighting equipment

Videographer-Editor – Live Performances

Reporting to the Program Director and Event Manager, the Videographer-Editor supports live performance events at TCAN to produce high quality livestreams and recorded performances. The ability to work as part of a team is critical for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operates three remote-controlled video cameras (installed) to record and/or livestream performances on TCAN’s mainstage
  • As needed, edits video and audio recordings to produce videos for Video-On-Demand or YouTube viewing
  • Programming and operation of Broadcast Pix BPS-FX6 switching console
  • Programming and operation of Sony RM-IP500 controllers to capture live music performances using three Sony BRC-H800 HD PTZ cameras
  • Responsible for protection, maintenance and repair of video equipment through third-party service providers
  • Assist with Production throughout the House as needed, including collaboration with lighting and audio personnel to ensure optimal recording
  • Assist Program Director with technical advance with Artists representatives, as required
  • Ensure proper care and handling of all TCAN and rental video equipment
  • Interact with visiting production crews to ensure a successful show
  • Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels

Event Manager – Live Performances

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Event Manager oversees live performance events at TCAN to maximize the positive experience of our patrons. The ability to work as part of a team is critical for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell and print tickets using box office software
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve patron issues
  • Maintain accurate cash bank and daily sales reporting
  • Sell concessions and alcohol under the policies of TCAN and the Town of Natick
  • Supervise a team of volunteers to support pre- and post-event duties
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of lobby, venue and bathrooms
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and policies
  • Manage relations with performing artists and production crew, including final settlement and merchandise sales
  • Manage relations with TCAN production staff – lighting and sound

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience
  • Maintain working knowledge of food and beverage operations and facility
  • A high degree of computer literacy with ability to train others
  • Ability to deter disruptive conduct while encouraging positive interaction with guests
  • Ability to present a professional appearance 
  • Superlative time-management and multi-tasking skills

Event Bar Manager

Reporting to the Event Manager for selected live performance events, the Bar Manager oversees the responsible sale of alcoholic beverages to enhance the positive experience of our patrons. Most TCAN events offer beer and wine only to adults 21 years of age or older with acceptable proof of identification. The ability to prepare mixed drinks is preferred but required for private functions only. The ability to work as part of a team is critical for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain successful operation of bar equipment including taps, kegs, CO2 gas
  • Sell concessions and alcohol under the policies of TCAN and the Town of Natick
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and policies
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve patron issues
  • Maintain accurate cash bank and daily sales reporting
  • Oversee a team of volunteers to support concession and alcohol sales
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of concession area and surfaces

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent related work experience
  • Maintain working knowledge of food and beverage operations and facility
  • TIPS certification to serve alcohol in Massachusetts
  • Ability to deter disruptive conduct while encouraging positive interaction with guests
  • Ability to present a professional appearance 
  • Superlative time-management and multi-tasking skills
  • Must work well under pressure and be even-tempered
  • Availability to work evenings with maximum availability
