Natick Approves Alcohol License for TCAN

TCAN Members and Patrons,

Following a 12-month review process by Natick's Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee, Town Meeting representatives and the MA Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, The Center for Arts in Natick was issued a General On Premises License for alcohol sales on November 30, 2014. TCAN will be permitted to offer alcohol sales at all performances effective January 1, 2015.

Since 2005, TCAN has been granted 30 single-day alcohol permits each year by the Town of Natick, the maximum allowed by law. During this time, TCAN has served wine and beer at 30 performances annually without accident or incident.

In 2015, TCAN plans to offer alcohol as an amenity to our adult patrons at most evening and afternoon performances. We will restrict alcohol sales to those events that are age-appropriate, and serve to ticketed patrons only of legal drinking age, proved with a valid MA ID. As always, service will be provided by trained and TIPS-certified waitstaff.

With this new license authority, we want to assure our members and patrons that TCAN's arts-based mission has not changed. We have no intention to modify our programming or hours of operation, and will serve only at performances and certain private functions. TCAN is not, and will not become a nightclub or bar. As we have since our opening in 1997, TCAN will continue to act in the best interests of our patrons, neighbors and local residents.
