“Mark Walker is truly exceptional. Not only is he one of the most musical, and intuitive virtuosos on drums and percussion that I have played with, he is also extremely knowledgeable of the roots, tradition and mechanics of various Latin music forms that he performs.”
- Ralph Towner, Grammy-nominated guitarist, pianist, synthesist, composer, ECM recording artist and co-founder of Oregon
Multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy Award winning drummer/composer Mark Walker has toured the world with a who’s who of jazz and world music - Oregon, Paquito D’Rivera, Lyle Mays, Michel Camilo, Eliane Elias and the Caribbean Jazz Project, to name a few - and is now touring regularly with ten time Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval’s band. He has appeared on over 100 albums.
His debut album “You Get What You Give” (featuring Paquito D’Rivera) made the top ten most played jazz albums on jazz radio in the US in 2019 and was met with critical acclaim worldwide. He received a nomination for his composition “Deep Six” at the 50th annual Grammy Awards.
Walker has performed with his own groups in Rio De Janeiro, Valencia (Venezuela), Chicago, New York and Boston. On April 7, he brings an all-star combination of seasoned veterans and young lions for an exciting evening of Pan-American jazz.
